Course Schedule

 

Kick Off Day! - Saturday 02 SEPTEMBER

9 a.m. - 5.30 p.m. Registration opens at 8.45 a.m.

The kick-off day is a big day and one of the most intense sessions. This is when you'll get to meet your new team and work with your product owner to decide what problem you'll solve and how you'll go about it over the rest of the course.

It is imperative that you have signed in by 9 a.m.!

Evening sessions

GENERAL FORMAT OF TUESDAY evening SESSIONS

6:00 p.m. -  Arrival & dinner*.

6:15 p.m. - Presentations on specific techniques. These will vary from week to week and some are role specific.

7:00 p.m. - Team stand up.

7:15 p.m. - Project time.

8:45 p.m. - Team retrospectives.

9:00 p.m. – Home time!

The presentations vary in length from week to week and there are fewer towards the end of the course. This means that stand-up will move closer to 6:15 p.m. and the amount of project time will increase.

* If you work or study nearby don't worry about showing up a bit before 6 p.m.

Tuesday 05 SEPTEMBER (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

Developers will be guided through setting up their dev machines and given an introduction to TDD and pairing workshop.

BA's and XD's will elaborate user stories and wireframes started during the kick-off day.

 

Tuesday 12 SEPTEMBER (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

Each team should have some initial user stories ready for developers to start implementing. This is where teams start to follow a typical agile development routine.

 

Tuesday 19 SEPTEMBER (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

Everyone will be given an introduction to Experience design.

Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

Tuesday 26 SEptember (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

All teams have an Agile 101 workshop and continue working on stories.

Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

 

Tuesday 03 october (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

A member of the ThoughtWorks recruitment team will give an overview of the grad recruitment process and explain what it's like to work at ThoughtWorks.

Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

Tuesday 10 october (6 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

Final Showcase! - Saturday 14 october (9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

This is effectively a double session. By this point you should only need minimal input from the trainers and is an opportunity to finish any work in progress and prepare a final team presentation.

9 a.m. - ~ 3:30 p.m. Project time (developers will mostly be finishing stories whilst XDs and BAs work on the showcase presentation).

3:30 p.m. - Team presentations

4:15 p.m. - Course Wrap up

5 p.m. - Drinks and socialising.

6 p.m. - Doors close.
