Course Schedule 2018

 

Saturday 11th August - Kick-off day

8.45 am - Registrations open. Please make sure you register by 9am.

9:00 am - 5:30 pm - LevelUp officially starts

Kick-off day is when you'll be meeting the rest of your team for the first time. You'll also be meeting with your Product Owner to decide what problem you'll be working on for the duration of the course.

GENERAL FORMAT OF TUESDAY SESSIONS

6:00 pm - Arrival and dinner

6:15 pm - Talk from a ThoughtWorker 

7:00 pm - Team stand-ups

7:15 pm - Project time!

8:45 pm - Team retrospectives

* Please do not arrive before 5:45, as you may not be allowed into the office.

 

Tuesday 14th August

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Developers will be guided through setting up their dev machines and have workshops on TDD and pair programming.

BA's and XD's will elaborate user stories and wireframes they started during the kick-off day.

 

Tuesday 21st August

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Developers will be given an introduction to code smells, other roles will be introduced to topics around acceptance criteria. Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

 

Tuesday 28th August

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Developers and QA's will get to know the concept of automated testing, BA's will be introduced to prioritisation and how it relates to the product owner, while XD's will delve into the topic of prototyping. Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

 

Tuesday 4th september

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The teams will get to know how to do showcases, continuous integration, as well as usability testing. Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

 

Tuesday 11th September

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

 

Tuesday 18th September

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A member of the ThoughtWorks recruitment team will give an overview of the grad recruitment process and explain what it's like to work at ThoughtWorks. Teams continue to work with their product owner to generate and refine user stories and working software.

 

Saturday 22nd september - Showcase day

9:00 am - 5:30 pm

This is effectively a double session. By this point you should only need minimal input from the trainers and is an opportunity to finish any work in progress and prepare a final team presentation.

9 am - 3:30 pm - Project time (for teams to prepare for the showcases)

3:30 pm - Team presentations

4:15 pm - Course wrap up

5:00 pm - Drinks and socialising

6:00 pm - Doors close
